The live-action Tomb Raider series currently in production at Amazon MGM Studios has temporarily stopped filming following an injury to lead actress Sophie Turner, who plays Lara Croft in the show.
A statement from the studio confirmed the news: “Sophie Turner recently experienced a minor injury. As a precaution, production has briefly paused to allow her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible.”

According to Deadline, the production shutdown is expected to last around two weeks, and crew members will continue to be paid during that period. The circumstances of the injury whether it happened on set or elsewhere have not been disclosed.
Turner is central to the show given her role as the lead character, meaning production cannot move forward without her. Amazon gave fans their first official look at Turner as Lara Croft earlier this year. She takes on a role previously held by Angelina Jolie, who played the character in two films, and Alicia Vikander, who starred in a 2018 reboot.

The series comes with a strong creative team behind it. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for writing and starring in the Emmy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA-winning series Fleabag, is on board as writer and executive producer. The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, and John Heffernan, among others.
No revised production timeline for the Tomb Raider series has been announced beyond the two-week pause.
