Lies of P is a new soulslike action RPG game by Neowiz (Brave Nine, Dandy Ace) and Round8 Studio (Cat Force). The game is based on the classic yet twisted children’s story of Pinocchio, the tale of a puppet that comes to life and seeks to become a real boy.

The team released the first alpha test gameplay footage today on their Youtube Channel. Here’s the link:

Neowiz and Round8 Studio today unveiled the first-ever gameplay video for Lies of P, a fantastically baroque Action RPG inspired by the classic Italian novel Pinocchio from Carlo Collodi. The ruined, but once beautiful city of Krat is on full display in the new video. Hideous and twisted automatons rule the landscape, and it’s up to P to find Mr. Geppetto and reverse the calamity that has befallen Krat.

In the video, fans should notice the reactive counter-attacks, the array of unique weapons to find and put to use, and that Pinocchio’s own mechanical arm acts as an additional tool or weapon to give unique skills – such as a grappling hook and more.

Anyone who’s read Pinocchio will know that the tale can be fairly disturbing despite being a children’s novel, including a chapter where Pinocchio accidentally burns his own legs off. As such it provides a good basis for a twisted action RPG with ‘P’ now going through a nightmarish town looking for Geppetto, his creator.

This is the first look at the game we’ve had since its story trailer was revealed earlier this year in March and the first to feature gameplay.

Lies of P will is currently scheduled to release on Steam. We currently do not if it will come to any other consoles nor do we have a release date. You can keep up with the game on the official website.
