Capcom has said they won’t be implementing Cross Save or Cross Play for Monster Hunter Rise and its expansion Sunbreak, following a strong push by the community to have it added ahead of the game’s PC release.

In a tweet on the official Monster Hunter Twitter and Facebook, they said the following:

“We’ve heard your requests for Cross-Save / Cross-Play for #MHRise & #Sunbreak, but unfortunately, after looking into it throughout the development process, we found we are unable to implement it this time. As always, we appreciate your continued feedback and support”.

Reaction to the news has been fairly understanding, with many fans appreciating the transparency as they prep for the PC release of Monster Hunter Rise this January.

“It’s saddening, yes. However, going out of your way to tell us all about this in advance is very appreciated. PC mains rise up!“, one Facebook comment writes.

Understandably though, some fans did express their frustration. During a recent survey, Capcom had offered cross save and cross play in Monster Hunter Rise as one potential service to look into.

Though we don’t know the results of said survey, it’s safe to say they had to release this statement because it was more requested than previously thought.

“Wonder why it was offered as an option if it had already been looked into and was deemed undoable”, writes noted Monster Hunter fan and professional artist RJ Palmer.

Possibly the weirdest take from this however seems to be users who think that cross play meant they would get the game for free- something that’s never happened outside of free-to-play games.

“You just want us to buy it twice right?“, Twitter user April writes, misunderstanding that most premium games with cross-play won’t entitle you to every version of the game.
