According to the CEO of Game Science, Yocar (Feng Ji), the acquisition resulted in Tencent and Epic Games providing Unreal Engine technical support. Beyond that, the project is still firmly under the supervision of Game Science.
Interestingly enough, Yocar was a former employee of Tencent. He left Tencent in 2014 to found his own game development studio just to develop an AAA game like Black Myth: Wukong.
Black Myth: Wukongexploded into internet popularity last year, making waves in both China and in the West. Despite being an indie studio, Game Science’s phenomenal work in creating early gameplay footage for Black Myth: Wukong has catapulted the studio into worldwide acclaim.
Black Myth: Wukongis a new Souls-like action RPG currently being made using Unreal Engine 4. At the time of writing, there is no planned release date for the game.
