We Reviewed the Razer Kraken Nya-KITTY Edition!

From a heavily edgy design for their gaming products, Razer has open up a brand new version of Razer Kraken, Razer Kraken Kitty Edition. I personally wouldn’t call it an outbreak of a design but more of a break of practice for Razer. Yet, this product, fits in a lot of different purposes like streaming or fashion design.

Razer Kraken Kitty Edition is a wired USB gaming headset with customizable lighting, THX Spatial Audio, cooling-gel ear cushions and a bunch of features to entertain the people around or watching you.

Design and Design Purpose

Razer add up their Kitty Ears towards an already good Razer Kraken to make Razer Kraken Kitty Edition. The version we have is the pink or called ‘Quartz’. Razer also have the normal black edition of the headset that looks more outstanding to me, though the ‘Quartz’ Edition is the more eye hooking one and doesn’t has a large price difference for another color design.

As mentioned earlier, Razer Kraken Kitty Edition is a one up from the Razer Kraken with the Kitty Ears included. Since the Kitty Ears comes together with the headset, it embeds the RGB function and can do different customization like make it rave different colors with the beats of the song and such. Build quality wise, the headset has a good support with the Metal band and lightweight ear cups with the Razer logo, oh yea, don’t forget the pink color all over the headset for the ‘Quartz’ version.

The padding of the headset is set in gray to fit the ‘Quartz’ concept design with the exterior being a very sharp pink, which is surprisingly working. The cooling gels in the ear padding really comforts the ear especially when you are heated up in the match and want to go full gamer mode!

The Razer Kraken Kitty Edition also has a button to trigger the THX Spatial Audio function and a volume dial. Personally, the function buttons that are on the headset is sufficient, but I would prefer some buttons to for profile switching. Like the normal Razer Kraken, the kitty edition also has the same retractable mic. The mic also can be muted by pressing the button at the mic, which the ring of light will turn red.

Not missing one of the main point here, RGB. You can customize your lighting settings in the Razer companion app, Razer Synapse. There are still more function to this headset, especially for streamers. Razer has another app to help users who streams to interact further like the mic, Razer Seiren Emote, Razer Streamer Companion App. Users can connect their items to their Twitch account to have effects based on the stream like follow and subscribing. Like the Razer Seiren Emote, the viewers will be able to the light effects on stream and if you have the Razer Seiren Emote, it would make it a perfect streamer bundle for everyone.

Performance

With the 50mm drivers, Razer Kraken Kitty Edition performs very well for most of the content especially gaming. Games that has a very immersive surrounding like Farming Simulator or Actions and Stealth packed games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare performs superbly.

Mic quality within the headset is as expected for a Razer product. It does not surpass the level of a condenser mic but performs very good in clear and crisp voice over TeamSpeak and Discord.

I would say that headset is pretty decent with the price tag of RM739. The headset provides some of the best quality in audio quality and built quality. I personally like the pink touch on the Razer Kraken Kitty Edition that can attract more people that are not gamers to buy it.
