Dragon Quest has been a huge IP franchise that spanned across consoles and even mobiles. However, not all Dragon Quest games are on the smartphone. During the “Chou Dragon Quest X TV: Fall no Bunkasai 10-Hour Special 2018” stream, executive producer Yuu Miyake and former Dragon Quest X producer, Yosuke Saito, pitched their ideas on a mobile version of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of Starry Skies and an offline version of Dragon Quest X.

Upon the topic of bringing Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies to mobile, executive producer Yuu Miyake mentioned that bringing Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies to mobile was difficult and almost impossible due to being unable to reproduce the Tag Mode functionality of the DS version on mobile. However they were recently introduced with new convenient tools that shed light to the development of a smartphone version. With that, Miyake said, “I’m starting to see us being able to do it.” *fingers crossed!

Though the possibility is there now, reproducing the Tag Mode functionality of the DS version is still not an easy tasked. Miyake said that “It wouldn’t be the same as the DS or 3DS version.” Despite that, Miyake is still hopeful to bring the Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies to join with the rest of the Dragon Quest series lineup that’s already on mobile now.

Speaking of the Offline Version of Dragon Quest X, former producer of Dragon Quest X Yosuke Saito mentioned that there has been discussions on an offline version of Dragon Quest X. Since Dragon Quest X is packed with excellent stories, Saito said, “It would be great if we could introduce it to fans to play it.”

Following up with that statement, Miyake also voiced out that Dragon Quest X is not released yet in overseas. The 3DS was also not as popular in the overseas region. However, Miyake still showed a strong desire to bring an offline version of Dragon Quest X with a statement, “Since Dragon Quest X has tons of rich stories, I would like to make something that can tell those stories, including to players overseas.”
