Konami has announced that Suikoden STAR LEAP, a new free-to-play RPG in the Suikoden series, will launch in Japan on August 7. The game will be available on iOS through the App Store and on Android through Google Play. A version for PC will also come later through Steam, though Konami has not yet shared a release date for that platform. The company has also not announced when the game will launch outside of Japan for PC, iOS, and Android.
Ahead of the Japan launch, Konami will hold a livestream called Suikoden Live Vol. 7: Suikoden STAR Leap Pre-Launch Program on August 6 at 20:00 JST. The stream will be shown on Konami’s official YouTube channel and is being held to mark the game’s release. Suikoden STAR LEAP is described as a brand new story within the Suikoden series, centered on a new cast of 108 Stars and a fresh tale involving the True Runes, powerful artifacts said to have shaped the world.
According to its Steam page, the game’s key features include a story told through meetings with the 108 Stars and other characters as players travel the world, detailed pixel art used for locations and character expression, and battle strategies that grow more varied as the number of playable characters increases. With the Japan release date now set, players outside the region will need to wait for further word from Konami on international availability.
