Valve has locked in a summer 2026 release window for both the Steam Machine and Steam Frame, narrowing down what was previously just a vague launch target for the two devices. The announcement came alongside an expansion of Valve’s Verified program, which will now cover both new products.
“Today we are expanding the Verified program to include Steam Machine and Steam Frame, both of which are shipping this summer,” Valve wrote. The program, similar to how Steam Deck Verified works, is designed to let players know how well a game will run on a device right out of the box, with no extra setup needed.

The two devices were first revealed back in November, with the Steam Machine being a console-like PC box and the Steam Frame being a VR headset. Both launched with a 2026 window but no firm pricing details attached.
Earlier this year, the road to release hit a bump when a surge in global component prices forced Valve to hold off on announcing specific pricing and release information. Memory prices in particular have taken a sharp jump, with DRAM contract prices rising over 170% year-over-year. At the time of announcement, Valve had said the Steam Machine would be priced roughly in line with what it would cost to build a PC with similar performance from parts, and a build analysis had estimated that figure to be around $700. Pricing details are still not confirmed.

On the game compatibility side, Valve says the transition to Steam Machine should be fairly smooth for developers. Games that already run well on the Steam Deck will carry that performance over to Steam Machine without any extra work. For titles that struggled on the Deck due to CPU or GPU limitations, Valve says those may still perform well on the Steam Machine given its different hardware. Valve added that it is already testing every title that did not meet its performance requirements on the Deck, so developers do not need to take any action on their end.
