Klei Entertainment has announced Don’t Starve Elsewhere, a brand new game in the Don’t Starve franchise. The game is coming to PC via Steam, though no release date has been shared yet.
Like previous entries in the series, Don’t Starve Elsewhere puts players in a strange and hostile world where survival is the main goal. Players can tackle the game solo or team up with friends to explore new environments, fight off threats, gather resources, and build a home base.
One of the bigger additions in Elsewhere is a multi-tiered world design. Players can climb mountain peaks, cross rivers and seas, and venture into underground cave systems. The world is procedurally generated, meaning each playthrough will produce a different map layout. New biomes are included as well, each coming with their own weather and environmental hazards such as heavy rainstorms in a redwood forest to cold conditions at higher elevations.
A new threat called the Fog plays a central role in the game. It slowly spreads across the landscape and affects the sanity of anyone who wanders into it. Players will need to decide whether to avoid it entirely or explore what lies within it.

The classic Don’t Starve rules still apply where players are warned not to fall, not to linger in the Fog, and above all else, not to starve. No launch window for Don’t Starve Elsewhere has been given at this time. More details are expected from Klei as development continues.
