Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s upcoming title, Stranger Than Heaven, just got a brand new trailer during the Xbox Partner Preview and that’s not all. Xbox and RGG Studio have also announced a dedicated broadcast called “Xbox Presents: A Special Look at Stranger Than Heaven,” set to air on May 6. Masayoshi Yokoyama, RGG Studio Representative and Executive Producer, commented on the reveal: “We have so much to show and I promise it will be worth your time. Today was just a taste of what’s to come.”
What the New Trailer Showed
The latest trailer gave a much clearer picture of what Stranger Than Heaven is going to be. One of the bigger reveals is that the game will span five different time periods and will take place across five different Japanese cities.
Yokoyama spoke to the scale of that ambition: “5 cities and 5 eras is a massive undertaking. We’re putting a tremendous amount of care into bringing to life these times and places we feel are rarely explored in games. It’s truly a unique experience you can’t get anywhere else.”
The trailer also gave a look at the game’s combat, showing off weapons, grappling, one-versus-many fights, and environmental interactions. “This is an all-new level of combat design from us, and what you saw is just the tip of the iceberg with much more to be revealed soon,” Yokoyama said.
Outside of combat, the trailer touched on other parts of the game as well as city travel by tram, what appears to be romance options, and food, which has always been a staple of RGG Studio games. The whole trailer was backed by a jazz-drumming soundtrack, continuing a musical theme that has run through all of Stranger Than Heaven’s promotional material so far.

“Those music tracks really get your feet tapping, don’t they?” Yokoyama said. “Well, let’s just say there’s a lot more where that came from, and some of my favorite music has yet to be heard.”
The trailer also appeared to show some recognizable faces in the cast, though Yokoyama stayed tight-lipped about the details: “We weren’t exactly subtle with some of the footage we chose for this trailer, but let’s just say that players can look forward to an all-star cast. We’re excited to reveal more at the upcoming broadcast.”

May 6 Broadcast
The dedicated Xbox Presents broadcast will go deeper into many of what was teased today, along with things that haven’t been shown yet. “There’s so much that we’re itching to share,” Yokoyama said. “From the incredible cast, to the music, the combat experience and more. We really feel it will be something that will shock and (hopefully) amaze people.”
Here are the airtimes for the broadcast across different regions:
