Eagle-eyed players of Resident Evil Requiem have noticed something unexpected about series veteran Leon Kennedy because he appears to be married. The discovery came from two places.
First, concept artwork unlocked after completing the game shows two versions of Leon’s hand: one where his hand is infected and ring-less, and another, uninfected version where a silver ring is clearly visible on his ring finger. Second, in the game’s final cutscene, Leon removes his gloves and makes a subtle hand movement that fans have identified as him placing a ring back on his finger, now that he’s been cured of his infection.

Throughout most of the game, Leon hides the signs of his infection under a pair of gloves. Even in alternate glove-less outfits available in the game, no ring is visible, making the final cutscene moment all the more deliberate. Fans have zoomed into the final shot of Leon walking away and have spotted what appears to be a glint of something on his hand.
This is not the kind of detail that shows up by accident. Leon has not worn a ring in any previous Resident Evil game, and the concept art showing both a ring-less infected hand and a ring-bearing healthy hand suggests Capcom made a conscious creative choice here. The detail adds a layer to Leon’s character hinting that outside of his dangerous line of work, he has built a personal life. At no point in Requiem does the game reveal who Leon is married to, and that mystery has sent fans into a frenzy of discussion online.

The most talked-about candidate is Claire Redfield, Chris Redfield’s sister and Leon’s co-star from Resident Evil 2. Fans pointing to Claire note that this game is set back in Raccoon City, which already draws a thematic line back to where Leon and Claire first met. Ada Wong is the other major name in the conversation. Leon and Ada have a long, complicated history across the series, including a kiss during a dramatic moment in Resident Evil 2.
For now, Capcom has not addressed the ring or confirmed anything about Leon’s personal life. Whether this gets explored in future DLC or a follow-up game remains to be seen.
