South Korean studio Sanctuary Games has unveiled Zanerdin: The Unbound, a collectible turn-based strategy RPG heading to PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. The team has not confirmed a release date yet. However, the announcement already outlines a clear creative direction.
Hyunduk You founded Sanctuary Games in April 2025 after serving as a business development manager at NEOWIZ. Although the studio operates with a small team, You emphasizes that the project will deliver a full-scale narrative experience. More importantly, the team wants to challenge how players perceive gacha systems in premium titles.
Gacha Systems Without Paywalls

Zanerdin: The Unbound integrates gacha mechanics directly into its core progression. Instead of selling pulls or premium currency, the game rewards players through active play. As a result, every collectible character, pet, and piece of gear comes from in-game achievements.
Players will progress through 60 battle stages. In addition, they can tackle Boss Raids, Abyss Boss Raids, and even a hidden Raid encounter. Each activity grants materials used for character and gear upgrades. Consequently, the loop focuses on strategic advancement rather than spending.
This structure aims to preserve the thrill of collection. At the same time, it removes the monetization barriers often associated with the genre.
A World Divided by Elemental Power

The story unfolds in Kalatos, a world shaped by six elemental Blessings: Water, Fire, Earth, Metal, Wind, and Electric. Each citizen is born with one element, which defines their abilities and social standing. Therefore, power influences both combat and hierarchy.
In contrast, the Chaos region stands apart. People born there possess no elemental Blessing. The protagonist, Zanerdin, comes from this powerless land. As he journeys into the Blessed territories, he searches for answers about his family. Meanwhile, he challenges the rigid systems that govern Kalatos.
Tactical Combat and Endgame Challenges

Combat centers on careful planning. The roster includes more than 25 playable characters, each with distinct elemental traits and combat positions. Players must build teams around “Theme” and “Synergy” systems. Because of this, success depends on coordination rather than raw strength.
After completing the main stages, players can enter a five-versus-five AI tournament. Victory unlocks a Hardcore battle stage designed for optimized builds. Furthermore, the studio plans to expand the story and roster through downloadable content.
Overall, Zanerdin: The Unbound combines structured progression, strategic depth, and a monetization-free gacha framework. More details, including pricing and a launch window, will arrive at a later date.
