Team Ninja announced during February’s State of Play presentation that Dead or Alive 6 Last Round will launch on PlayStation 5 on June 25. The news comes as the fighting game franchise celebrates its 30-year anniversary.
Dead or Alive Series Producer Yosuke Hayashi addressed fans who have been asking about the franchise’s future, confirming that “the franchise is very much alive and kicking.”
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round will include 29 playable characters—24 from the original release and 5 additional fighters that were previously DLC. Popular characters like Kasumi and Marie Rose will each receive 5 costumes. The game has been optimized to run on current hardware and features a new photo mode that lets players capture their favorite fighters from different angles.
A free-to-play version will launch on the same day, giving players access to four characters: Kasumi, NiCO, Marie Rose, and Honoka. The free version includes online modes DOA Quest and DOA Central, as well as the new photo mode. Players using the free version can battle against those who own the full game.
Team Ninja plans to release additional updates after launch, including new costumes and characters. Details about this content will be shared later. Hayashi also revealed that Team Ninja is currently developing a new Dead or Alive title, though no further information about the project was provided.
The producer encouraged both longtime fans and newcomers to try Dead or Alive 6 Last Round, noting that while this release might be the “Last Round” for the game, the franchise will be “storming back better than ever in the near future.”
