Sega has released a free update for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds that brings Super Monkey Ball content to the racing game. The update is available now for all players. The main addition is AiAi as a playable character. Players can race as the beloved monkey and use his signature vehicle, the Banana Cruiser.
The update also adds four new Super Monkey Ball songs to the in-game Jukebox:
- “Race”
- “Menu Theme”
- “Jingle from Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble”
- “Banana Farm”
Additionally, the new update includes special emotes and sounds themed around Super Monkey Ball in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds lets players build and customize their racing machines, unlock gadgets, and use power-ups. The game supports both solo play and multiplayer with friends across offline and online modes. Cross-platform matchmaking allows up to 12 racers to compete together, no matter what system they’re playing on.
The game’s roster includes multiple Sonic characters, with more coming through future free updates. Previously announced additions include Joker, Kasuga Ichiban, and Hatsune Miku. Players can choose from several game modes at launch. Grand Prix offers multiple cups to race through, while World Match provides ranked online battles. The game also features a Rival System that assigns rivals who taunt players throughout Grand Prix events.
