Neos Corporation has announced that Culdcept BEGINS will launch worldwide on July 16, 2026. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Physical copies for the Switch 2 version will be available on release day, with pre-orders opening today.
This marks the first completely new Culdcept game in ten years. The series, which originally launched in 1997 under developer Omiya Soft, has sold over 1 million copies across all platforms and versions. Culdcept BEGINS serves as a prequel to that original game.
Two physical versions will be available for Switch 2:
- Standard Edition ($54.99): Includes the game and a booklet
- Limited SteelBook Edition ($89.99): Includes everything from the Standard Edition plus a folding box, SteelBook case, soundtrack CD, and 10 creature tablet-style cards
The Nintendo Switch 2 version includes GameShare support, which lets up to four players play together locally, even if some don’t own the game. This works with both Switch 2 and original Switch consoles. The Switch 2 version also supports mouse controls. The Nintendo Switch version will only be available digitally. The PC version will be released on Steam, though a specific date has not been announced yet.

Culdcept BEGINS keeps the core gameplay that defines the series. Players move around a board by rolling dice, claim territory spaces, and battle other players using custom 40-card decks. The goal is to build up Magic Power and return to the castle to win.
The game includes around 400 cards split into three types: Creature, Item, and Spell. Creature cards come in five different attributes and are used to control land spaces. Item and Spell cards affect battles and movement on the board. Omiya Soft supervised the development, and all cards, maps, and world elements have been redesigned from scratch.

The story takes place on the continent of Bavrashka and follows Kamur, a transfer student at the Royal Cept Academy. As tensions grow across the region, Kamur joins the Royal Cepter Guard Regiment. Character and creature designs are by Satoshi Matsuura.
