miHoYo has confirmed that Honkai: Star Rail version 4.0, titled “No Aha At Full Moon,” will launch on February 13. This update begins a year-long story arc centered on The Elation, introducing a brand-new world, expanded combat systems, new characters, events, and rewards.

Enter Planarcadia, the World of Elation

IIn version 4.0, Trailblazers travel to Planarcadia, a world where attention holds real power and society thrives on entertainment. Once a flat “World in Canvas,” Planarcadia transformed into a bustling hub after the Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC) assumed control. Upon arrival, players are greeted by Madam Pearl, one of IPC’s “Ten Stonehearts.” Beyond its glitz, Planarcadia is also Navigator Himeko’s homeland and the site where the Astral Express reignited its journey fifteen years ago. The crew’s return is marked by fame, as a comic chronicling their adventures has become a hit, thrusting them into the spotlight.

Duomension City and the Cost of Being Remembered

Trailblazers soon explore Duomension City, home to the unique imagenae—creatures that live in symbiosis with the locals and rely on Wishpower to survive. Station master Meowton, the train-like Bullet Wyrm, the towering Thundercoil, and the beloved Mechatron are among the imagenae players encounter. Entertainment facilities line the streets to ensure the imagenae remain remembered. Hidden gateways also lead to destinations such as Dovebrook, the prestigious Graphia Academy, and the secret Tavern of Elation, where the Masked Fools gather.

The Phantasmoon Games and New Combat Systems

At the core of Planarcadia’s chaos lies the Phantasmoon Games. Designed by The Laughter, this event has no fixed rules. Instead, victory depends on attracting the most attention. The reward is an audience with Aha and the chance to become an Aeon for one minute. As a result, multiple factions have converged on the city, including the IPC, Xianzhou Alliance, Masked Fools, and Stellaron Hunters.

Meanwhile, combat also evolves. Characters on the Path of Elation now generate “Punchlines” during battle. Once enough Punchlines accumulate, Aha triggers an “Aha Instant,” allowing Elation characters to unleash powerful chained actions. Afterward, they gain “Certified Banger” buffs, which further deepen strategic options.

Combat Evolutions

Combat evolves in version 4.0 with characters on the Path of Elation generating Punchlines during battles. When enough Punchlines are collected, Aha triggers an Aha Instant, allowing Elation characters to unleash chained skills. After the Aha Instant concludes, characters receive Certified Banger buffs, adding further strategic depth to combat.

New Characters, Events, and Generous Rewards

Version 4.0 introduces two new five-star characters. General Yao Guang, a Physical Elation unit from the Xianzhou Alliance, uses divination to control battle flow. In contrast, Sparxie is a Fire-Type Elation character and a famous Planarcadia streamer. Her combat style revolves around livestream mechanics and Skill Point management.

In addition, several limited five-star characters return through Warp events. Black Swan and Sparkle also receive notable enhancements. Beyond characters, players will receive login rewards, Stellar Jades, a free Ruan Mei outfit, and a free five-star character selector. New events and permanent mode updates round out the experience.

Honkai: Star Rail is available now on PlayStation 5, PC via client download and Epic Games Store, iOS, and Android. With version 4.0, the game enters one of its boldest chapters yet.
