Tribute Games has announced that Scott Pilgrim EX will release digitally on March 3 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, priced at $28.99. Physical versions will be released at a later date.
The side-scrolling brawler features a new story by series creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, set in a futuristic Toronto controlled by three rival gangs: the Vegans, the Robots, and the Demons. Players take on the role of Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, and other characters as they work to rescue Scott’s kidnapped bandmates and uncover who’s behind the city’s takeover.

The game includes seven playable characters, each with different fighting styles. Two newly announced fighters are Matthew Patel and Robot-01. Matthew Patel uses fire-based attacks and can summon demon hipsters to control crowds and set traps. Robot-01 is a fast combat unit that uses thrusters, transformations, and long-range attacks during battles.
Players can explore connected levels throughout Toronto, complete quests, find hidden areas, and meet various characters. The combat system focuses on combos, special attacks, and using weapons and the environment during fights. Characters can be customized with badges that improve stats and provide bonuses, which can be purchased with in-game coins.

Scott Pilgrim EX supports up to four players in local or online co-op mode with drop-in and drop-out functionality. The game features new music from Anamanaguchi, the band known for their mix of 8-bit sounds and rock music.
