Wild Dog, the independent game studio that made Keep Digging, has announced it will sponsor Japan’s 24th National Hole Digging Competition. The event will happen on February 1 at Narita Dream Farm. To celebrate the partnership, the developers created a promotional video that features both the game and the farm’s mascot character, Yumeko-chan.
The National Hole Digging Competition started in 2001 and takes place every year. The main event challenges teams of up to four people to dig the deepest hole they can in 20 minutes. The competition draws more than 1,200 participants each year and includes different categories for solo diggers, all-female teams, and all-children teams.

Wild Dog plans to give mobile batteries as prizes to participants. The studio will also enter its own team of developers into the main competition. Studio CEO Hiroto Chujo shared his thoughts on the sponsorship:
“The National Hole Digging Competition is a truly unique, historic event with an incredibly high level of passion for hole digging. We are deeply honored to be able to sponsor such a competition. We hope many people will experience the joy of real digging alongside the simulated gameplay of Keep Digging. As developers, we also aim to utilize the experience of actual hole digging in our future projects.”

The sponsorship from the studio behind Keep Digging matches well with gameplay, which focuses on digging deep holes and making equipment to dig even deeper holes. Keep Digging is currently available on PC via Steam.
