Cursed Legacy is a 2D pixel action roguelite game that puts you in the shoes of The Death Knight, a former hero seeking revenge. Showcased at IGDX 2025, this game offers an engaging take on the roguelite genre with a dark and emotional story at its core.
Movement in Cursed Legacy uses WASD keys, while left-clicking performs a dash attack. This dash attack is your only source of damage and has a cooldown, making timing your strikes important rather than allowing constant attacks. Most floors contain a green portal where you can kidnap a villager and throw them in. Once you’ve collected the required amount, you receive a drop that can heal your HP.

After clearing each floor, you earn fragments (shown in the top right) that can be spent on upgrades for that run only. The game features two types of abilities: passive and active. Each type has three slots available. Passive abilities work on their own, while active abilities only trigger when you use your dash attack. Souls, shown in the top right alongside fragments, can be used to purchase permanent upgrades that carry between runs, unlike the temporary fragment upgrades.

The game is quite enjoyable as a casual roguelite. The mechanics are simple, which some might find a bit oversimplified, but this approach makes the game accessible and fun for players looking for a laid-back experience without too much complexity.
