Nintendo has shared new information about the Vi-O-La motorbike that Samus will ride in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, explaining how the vehicle will work in the game. The Vi-O-La was first shown in a Nintendo Direct trailer last month.
According to an update on Nintendo’s Japanese website, players can only summon the motorbike in certain areas of the game. When players get off the Vi-O-La, the game returns to Samus’s regular view and players can continue exploring on foot. The motorbike serves as a way for Samus to move quickly across the planet Byrus. While riding, players can use special moves to fight enemies and break ore deposits found throughout the world.

The Vi-O-La has three main abilities. The boost move gives Samus a short speed increase, pushes back enemies, and breaks ore. The power slide can clear out multiple enemies and objects in a wide area. The projectile attack fires tracking energy that can lock onto up to five enemies at the same time. After hitting targets, the projectiles return to Samus like a boomerang.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches on December 4, 2025. Nintendo will release two amiibo figures on November 6—one of Samus and one of Samus riding the Vi-O-La. A third amiibo featuring the character Sylux will come out on the game’s release date.
