Capcom has released a new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth main game in the popular survival horror series during the September Nintendo Direct. The company also announced that the game will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026, the same day it comes out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
Along with Resident Evil Requiem, two other games in the series will also arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on the same date. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and Resident Evil Village will launch together, giving players three Resident Evil games to play on the new Nintendo console right away.
The Story Behind the Game
The story starts when someone finds a dead body in an old, empty hotel. The person died from a disease that no one can identify. FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft gets assigned to solve the case, but there’s a problem – this is the same hotel where her mother died eight years ago.
Grace decides to face her past and go to the crime scene. However, this one case leads her to discover hidden secrets about what really happened during the outbreak in Raccoon City, the disaster that shocked the world. The game asks whether this will finally put an end to the terrible memories of that disaster.

Grace Ashcroft works as an intelligence analyst for the FBI. She’s very good at solving puzzles and analyzing information. Her mother’s death deeply affected her, making her prefer to work alone and avoid social situations. She goes to investigate the mysterious death at the abandoned hotel by herself.
Alissa Ashcroft is Grace’s mother and survived the original Raccoon City incident. She worked as a reporter when the first outbreak happened. She was a strong and determined woman who kept doing journalism even after surviving Raccoon City, trying to find out the truth about the Umbrella Corporation until something happened to her.
More Resident Evil Games Coming to Nintendo Switch 2
When February 27, 2026 arrives, Nintendo Switch 2 players will get three Resident Evil games at once. Resident Evil 7 Biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will let players experience the story of Ethan Winters, a regular person who gets caught up in scary situations and must survive against difficult odds.
The simultaneous release across all platforms means more players will be able to experience the latest chapter in the Resident Evil series when it launches next year.
