Nintendo marked the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario series in its latest Nintendo Direct by announcing a slew of new titles, remasters, and upgrades, all set to release over the next year. Fans were treated to a mix of nostalgia and fresh experiences, including a Super Mario Galaxy remaster, a new Mario Tennis game, and a brand-new Yoshi adventure. Super Mario Galaxy Remaster

Top billing went to remasters of the classic Wii titles Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. The games will launch on October 2, 2025, as a double-pack physical release, or individually as digital downloads via the Nintendo eShop. Previously only included in the limited-run Super Mario 3D All-Stars, these reissues now feature Galaxy-themed amiibo and a real-life edition of Rosalina’s storybook. Mario Tennis Fever

Nintendo also unveiled Mario Tennis Fever, the latest entry in the long-running tennis series. Super Mario Bros. Wonder will receive a Switch 2 Edition in spring 2026, officially titled Super Mario Bros. Wonder — Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park. Bellabel Park acts as a hub for new co-operative and competitive multiplayer challenges, and the Switch 2 Edition includes additional content, such as a talking toy inspired by the game’s flower characters. This new edition aims to expand both the gameplay and social aspects of the original title.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

The Direct also showcased a brand-new Yoshi game, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, a 2D platformer where players explore Yoshi’s island and encounter a variety of creatures. Set for a spring 2026 release as a Switch 2 exclusive, the game promises charming visuals, imaginative levels, and a storybook aesthetic reminiscent of past Yoshi titles.
