Publisher refint/games has announced that Ys vs Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga will no longer release in its planned Summer 2025 window. They confirmed the delay in a social media update, explaining that unforeseen circumstances forced them to adjust the schedule.
The team explained that while progress has been steady, unexpected issues outside their control disrupted development. To maintain quality, the crossover fighting game will now launch a few months later than expected.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to delay the game by a few months,” refint/games said. “This additional time ensures every aspect of the game, from combat to presentation, reaches the standard that fans deserve.”
The studio acknowledged fans’ disappointment but stressed that the delay will result in a stronger, more polished product. They also confirmed that a release date trailer with fresh screenshots and details will be shared soon.
A Classic Crossover Reimagined
Originally released in 2010 as a PSP-exclusive, Ys vs Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga unites characters from Falcom’s Ys series and the Trails in the Sky trilogy. This updated release reworks the classic with modern upgrades and expanded hardware support.
Combat is based on the Ys SEVEN system, now enhanced with jump mechanics for faster, more mobile battles. The game will feature both local and online multiplayer, with rollback netcode ensuring smoother online matches.
Visual and Gameplay Enhancements
The remaster introduces visual improvements such as 4K resolution and 60 FPS support, along with PC-exclusive features like ultrawide displays, mouse and keyboard support, and additional quality-of-life settings.
Players can unlock extras such as music, artwork, and lore in the new Material Collection mode. Meanwhile, a full English voice cast and physical editions have also been confirmed.
Ys vs Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga is planned for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
