PlayStation has released an official recipe video that lets fans of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach make edible cryptobiotes. These bug-like creatures may look unsettling, but in the game they help Sam Bridges survive by maintaining blood levels and resisting the aging timefall rain.
From Fictional Bugs to Edible Treats

Although cryptobiotes are fictional, PlayStation’s video shows how to recreate them in your kitchen. The base recipe uses glutinous rice flour, water, and white bean paste. First, mix the flour and water, heat them in a microwave, and then combine with the bean paste to form the foundation.

Choose Your Cryptobiote’s Flavor and Color
The recipe gives players room for creativity when deciding what kind of cryptobiote to make. The flesh-colored version mixes coffee powder with red food coloring. A bright yellow option uses Vegemite with yellow food coloring.

The green variation blends green juice powder with yellow food coloring. Finally, the fiery red cryptobiote combines chili pepper, habanero powder, and red food coloring. Once you pick a flavor and color, you can start shaping your creation.

Shaping Your Edible Companion
Making a cryptobiote is mostly about presentation. The body forms by connecting bean paste circles around fried hiyamugi noodle sticks to create legs. Clip the noodle ends to mimic stubby feet. Use chocolate sprinkles for the eyes and carve a small mouth with a toothpick.

Finish by coating your cryptobiote in melted agar jelly for a glossy look. PlayStation displayed theirs inside a bonsai tree, but you can simply serve them on a plate if you plan to eat them right away. The taste will reflect the ingredients you chose, while the fried noodle legs add crunch.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be available exclusively for PlayStation 5.
