A 10-year-old elementary school student in Japan has taken the Street Fighter 6 community by surprise after reaching MR 2100 in ranked play using Mai Shiranui. The impressive achievement has sparked admiration and amazement across social media, with many players left stunned by the young talent.
A Rising Star Named Taki

The player, known as Taki, is currently in the fourth grade and has been grinding Street Fighter 6 under the guidance and support of his father, who actively shares his son’s progress online. Taki started playing fighting games in second grade using the Modern control scheme, but by the time he reached third grade, he had already transitioned to the more complex Classic controls — a feat even veteran players sometimes avoid.

According to his father’s post on X, Taki previously used Akuma to achieve an impressive MR 1841 in Act 6. However, it was with Mai Shiranui that he truly broke through, reaching MR 2101 in Act 8. Despite struggling during the act, Taki managed to clutch his way to the milestone on August 1st, barely making it before the season ended.
The Power of Passion and Support

While Mai Shiranui is widely regarded as a strong character in the current meta, what makes Taki’s success noteworthy is his dedication and mastery using Classic controls, something that takes precise inputs and a solid understanding of the game’s mechanics. To have only two years of experience and reach this level is rare, especially for someone so young.
The online community has responded with overwhelming positivity, with many players offering congratulations and calling him a “future EVO champion.” Others praised Taki’s father for his continued support, proving that nurturing talent from an early age can produce incredible results.
Japan’s Elementary School Fighting Game Prodigies

This isn’t the first time a young Japanese player has gained fame for their fighting game skills. But Taki’s journey stands out for the combination of raw skill, disciplined control usage, and visible progress documented online. It’s safe to say that Taki has become a role model for young gamers everywhere, and maybe even a benchmark for older players struggling to climb the ranks.
As one commenter jokingly put it, “No matter how hard I try, I can’t get past MR 1800, and this kid’s already cracked 2100!”
