Nintendo wrapped up July with their Partner Showcase Direct, highlighting upcoming third-party games coming to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. While fans hoped to see Hollow Knight: Silksong or a Red Dead Redemption port, the showcase focused on other exciting releases instead.
The biggest news centered around major games making their way to Nintendo’s next console. RPG fans have plenty to look forward to. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection was announced for 2026. Square Enix revealed two new games: The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, an HD-2D action RPG coming in 2026 with a demo available now, and Octopath Traveller 0, which appears to be a prequel arriving December 4 on both Switch systems.
Star Wars Outlaws will launch on Switch 2 on September 4. Apex Legends is also coming to the new system on August 5 with better graphics and smoother gameplay for the new “Showdown” season.
Several fighting and action games got release dates. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero arrives on both Switch and Switch 2 on November 14, while the Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2 remasters hit Switch 2 on November 13. EA Sports games are well represented with Madden NFL 26 coming August 14 and FC26 launching September 26, both on Switch 2.
Classic games are getting fresh updates too. Plants vs Zombies: Replanted brings the original game to Switch systems on October 23 with HD graphics and co-op play. Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac also adds co-op when it launches September 26.
Other notable releases include Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles with full voice acting on September 30, Persona 3 Reload for Switch 2 on October 23, and a new Hyrule Warriors game called Age of Imprisonment set during the events before Tears of the Kingdom.
The showcase also featured several smaller games, including Once Upon a Katamari releasing October 24, Just Dance 2026 with 40 new songs on October 14, and Cronos: The New Dawn launching September 4. An unusual entry called Chillin’ by the Fire lets players roast marshmallows and use the Switch 2’s camera to sit around virtual fires with friends starting August 1.
The Direct showed strong third-party support for Nintendo Switch 2, with many major publishers bringing their biggest games to the platform. While some hoped-for announcements didn’t appear, the lineup demonstrates the new console’s ability to handle more demanding games that couldn’t run on the original Switch.
