Respawn Entertainment has officially unveiled details for Apex Legends Season 25, titled Prodigy, set to launch on May 6th. The upcoming season introduces the game’s first feline-inspired character, brings back a fan-favorite weapon, and resurrects a previously vaulted game mode.
New Legend: Sparrow
The standout addition for Season 25 in Apex Legends is no doubt the new legend Sparrow, described as the first cat-themed Legend. According to developers, Sparrow features feline-inspired animations and movement, with a kit designed around precision combat and bow mechanics.

Players can unlock Sparrow permanently by completing a set of launch challenges. The character is portrayed as upbeat and sunny, always accompanied by his cat companion. The developers also teased special dialogue interactions with established Legends, particularly noting Sparrow’s crush on Loba and unique exchanges with Mirage and Caustic.
Sparrow’s abilities include:
- Passive – Double Jump: Allows a second jump while mid-air and enables jumping to the top of walls while climbing
- Tactical – Tracker Dart: Reveals enemies through terrain with markers and trails, providing flank protection
- Ultimate – Stinger Bolt: A planted arrow that pulses damage and slows enemies in its vicinity
Weapon Changes and Bocek Bow Return
To complement Sparrow’s archery theme, the Bocek Bow returns to the weapon pool with several adjustments. The bow now comes with a quiver of 40 arrows and allows players to create explosive arrows by combining them with Frag Grenades (7 arrows per grenade). The developers noted that projectile system improvements will enhance the bow’s performance compared to its previous iteration.

Other weapon adjustments include:
- Triple Take moving to care package with an added gun shield
- Wingman receiving a fire rate buff and new laser sight compatibility
- P2020 being nerfed with a smaller magazine
- Sniper rifles regaining limb damage bonuses, with Skullpiercer hopup and gold sniper stocks being added
Legacy Arenas and Ranked
In a surprising move, Arenas mode will return as “Legacy Arenas” for a limited time. This 3v3 format maintains its core “first to 3 wins” structure but features modern balancing adjustments including weapon discounts and faster match resolution. The mode will also incorporate newer Legends like Ballistic, Conduit, and Alter.
Mid-season, Respawn plans to introduce a 1v1 variant featuring chain solo duels in 5-minute rounds.
Moreover, Season 25 introduces significant changes to the ranked experience with the new Ranked Ladder System, active primarily on weekends. Players will compete in 100-player skill-based ladders, with ladder scores calculated from their 10 best Ranked matches (excluding promotion protection RP). Top performers in the ladder system can earn the exclusive Ladder Champion Dive Trail, reserved for players consistently placing in the top 10% of their ladder.

The season will also feature a new approach to Season Reset, where players start with RP values more closely aligned to their hidden skill level. New ranked players will be placed based on their Unranked Trios performance, while returning players will see both their old and new starting placements. Apex Legends Season 25 Prodigy” represents a balanced approach of nostalgic elements and fresh content, potentially appealing to both veteran players and newcomers when it launches on May 6th.
