Pokémon Legends: Z-A Reveals New Details In Trailer, Coming Late 2025

The Pokémon Company has unveiled an extensive new trailer for Pokémon Legends: Z-A during its recent Pokémon Day broadcast, providing fans with significant details about the highly anticipated title. This marks the first major update since the game’s initial announcement at last year’s event.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A continues the Legends series that began in 2022 with Pokémon Legends: Arceus. While Arceus explored the ancient history of the Sinnoh region, Z-A takes players in a different direction by presenting a future version of the Kalos region. The game will focus specifically on Lumiose City, the Parisian-inspired metropolis first introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

According to the official website, Lumiose City is undergoing an urban redevelopment plan designed to create a harmonious environment for both people and Pokémon. The city has evolved significantly since its appearance in the 2013 games, now featuring more greenery alongside futuristic facilities. Players will find a blend of human-centered spaces like shopping arcades, cafés, and restaurants coexisting with natural areas including waterfronts and parks. The iconic Prism Tower remains the centerpiece of the city.

Players will enter the city as tourists on a sightseeing trip, establishing their base at an old hotel. The game will feature “wild zones” throughout the city where Pokémon and humans coexist peacefully, providing opportunities for battles and catching Pokémon.

The starter Pokémon options will be Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile. The game introduces a revolutionary battle system that appears to place greater emphasis on positioning. Unlike traditional Pokémon games where actions occur once per turn, Legends: Z-A will feature real-time movement during battles, with Pokémon executing moves on command. The Pokémon Company describes this as an “unprecedented style of Pokémon battling” that will be one of the game’s most exciting features.

Mega Evolutions, a popular battle mechanic from previous games, will make a return, allowing trainers to temporarily transform certain Pokémon into more powerful forms. While the trailer has provided substantial new information about the game. The Pokémon Company has not yet announced a specific release date, stating only that the title is scheduled to launch in late 2025.
