Gathering materials is one of the core activities in Monster Hunter, and Monster Hunter Wilds is no exception. In this Monster Hunter Wilds guide, we’ll help make your gathering journey easier by listing the materials and their best gathering locations. While most materials are spread across the map (and you should gather whatever you see during your hunts), we’ll focus on areas where materials are relatively close together, allowing for efficient gathering runs. While hunting monsters is thrilling, gathering herbs, mushrooms, minerals, and bones is equally important for crafting potions, buffs, weapons, and armor.
Important Tips
When preparing for gathering runs, equip Armor Skill Geologist level 3 and Botanist level 4 to maximize the materials you can collect from each gathering spot. For optimal results, conduct your gathering expeditions during the Season of Plenty, when additional gathering points become available across the map, such as extra Honey spots in Scarlet Forest. If you need to accelerate the regeneration process of gathering points, simply return to any camp and use the Rest feature, which will advance time and refresh available materials without requiring you to wait in real-time.

Mandragora
Needed for Max Potions, your best healing item. It’s definitely not easy to come by, but there’s two good spots, one of them even near a camp.
- Scarlet Forest – 2 in Area 6: Flowering Rocks Camp
- Iceshard Cliffs – 2 in Area 14

Sleep Herb

It is the hardest material to find clumped up in one spot, but Scarlet Forest Area 18: West Camp has 2 that you can get once in a while.
- Scarlet Forest – 2 in Area 18 West Camp

Spider Web
Needed to craft Pitfall Traps.
- Scarlet Forest – 3 at Lala Barina Nest (Area 4), 2 nearby
- Iceshard Cliffs – 2 in Area 2 and you can go to Area 4 to get another one

Thunder Bug
Required for Shock Trap, pretty easy to gather manually because it’s in one Area, not clumped up but at least you don’t need to walk too far to get each of them. You can also use it for Thunder Ammo

Bonepile
Needed to craft some Weapons and Armor.
- Windward Plains – 4 in Area 5
- Oilwell Basin – 2 in Area 3, 2 in Area 5
- Scarlet Forest – 3 in Area 6
