Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket Has Officially Launched

The Pokémon Company has officially launched Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket today, October 30, 2024, bringing a new digital card collecting experience to mobile devices. The app, co-developed with Creatures Inc. and DeNA Co., Ltd., is now available for download on both iOS and Android platforms.

This new mobile application offers players a casual card collecting experience with unique digital features and visual effects specifically designed for mobile devices. The game launches with three booster packs focusing on Pokémon from the classic Red and Blue versions. In a player-friendly move, users can open two free booster packs daily, with each pack containing a mix of nostalgic classic illustrations and new cards exclusive to the mobile platform.

The launch is accompanied by promotional content including a new trailer and an animated short titled “MILIMILI-BEAT!” featuring the game’s pack-opening mechanics set to upbeat music. The company has also announced plans to release a YouTube Shorts effect that will allow users to recreate the pack-opening experience in their own social media content.

To enhance the social aspect of collecting, The Pokémon Company is integrating modern social media features into the game’s experience. The upcoming YouTube Shorts effect will be available in all regions where YouTube Shorts is supported, allowing players to share their pack-opening moments with the global Pokémon community. This feature aims to capitalize on the popularity of pack-opening videos while providing players with new ways to engage with the game’s content.
