Takuro Mizobe, Palworld’s CEO is exhausted by accusations that the game developed by Pocketpair, uses AI art. Palworld took off with 2 million concurrent players and has now simmered down to a 30,000 on average, with a recent leap to 90,000 at the time of writing due to its recent major update.

Palworld is an open-world survival crafting game where players can befriend and collect enigmatic creatures known as “Pals” in a vast world. Developed by Pockepair, the game allows players to command Pals to battle, construct, farm, and operate factories. Within just three days of its early access launch, Palworld achieved sales of 5 million copies.

Initially, Palworld faced backlash, with criticisms ranging from accusations of being a direct rip-off of Pokémon to allegations of using AI-generated creatures. Furthermore, it did not help that Mizobe posted about Pokemon AI back in 2021.

Recently, Mizobe went to X/Twitter and addressed the accusations saying that the game does not use generative AI and that the artists involved in the game draw thousands of sketches.

Recently Pocketpair announced that they are going to establish Palworld Entertainment with Sony Music Entertainment Japan and Aniplex in a joint venture. The purpose of establishing said company is to accelerate the multifaceted global development of Palworld and its further expansion.
