The PC version of Ghost of Tsushima: DIRECTOR’S CUT is now being delisted in over 170 countries that have no access to PlayStation Network (PSN) on Steam.

Following the Helldivers 2 PSN debacle one week ago, Steam database SteamDB revealed that Ghost of Tsushima: DIRECTOR’S CUT has now been restricted from customer purchase in countries with no official PSN support.

This came shortly after the developer Sucker Punch made an announcement noting that players do not need to link their Steam account to PSN for the single-player mode of the game. Players would, however, need to do so if they intend to play the co-op multiplayer mode Legends.

Despite the announcement suggesting that Steam and PSN linking is optional for the game unless you want to play the multiplayer mode, regions with no PSN support are still restricted from purchasing the game.

Furthermore, players in these countries who pre-ordered the game have reported that Steam is issuing refunds automatically without requesting them themselves.

One week ago, Sony Interactive Entertainment tried to institute a mandatory PSN accounting linking requirement for the highly popular shooter Helldivers 2, which sparked a massive backlash as players in non-PSN supported regions may potentially be locked out from the game that they have purchased.

This news also brought about Helldivers 2 being delisted in 177 countries and territories, with Steam issuing refunds regardless of playtime.

Sony Interactive Entertainment eventually decided not to move forward with the requirement, but as of writing, Helldivers 2 is still being delisted in those countries on Steam.

Ghost of Tsushima: DIRECTOR’S CUT is slated to launch on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on May 16, 2024.
