Bethesda Game Studios, the developers behind Starfield, has revealed that The Elder Scrolls VI is already playable in its ‘early builds’.

Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of The Elden Scrolls, Bethesda made a post on their official X/Twitter page, recounting the history of the franchise.

In the post, Bethesda reminisced about the different milestones The Elder Scrolls has achieved, starting from The Elder Scrolls: Arena, all the way to Skyrim.

At the end of the post, the developers also mentioned two other projects, one being the castle builder for mobile named The Elder Scrolls: Castles which is currently in soft launch in multiple countries. And the other is news on The Elder Scrolls 6.

The developers mention that they have been enjoying the early builds that are available for the game and that playing the early builds has filled them with the same sense of adventure.

“Last but not least, yes, we are in development on the next chapter – The Elder Scrolls VI,” the post reads. “Even now, returning to Tamriel and playing early builds has us filled with the same joy, excitement, and promise of adventure.”

During E3 in 2018, The teaser trailer for Elder Scrolls VI was officially revealed, 7 years after its predecessor, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released.

But even after the teaser trailer, the developers have repeatedly emphasized that the game will not be coming out soon and that the team will be fully focused on Starfield.

It was not until August 2023 that Bethesda finally confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI had entered early development during an interview with Vandal, but even in that interview, Bethesda’s head of publishing Pete Hines said that it was only in early development.

While finally having additional news on the development of The Elder Scrolls VI is certainly exciting, the post itself mentions that playable versions are with early builds of the game. As such, fans are expected to wait for quite a while before the release of the full game.
