mo.co, a monster hunting game by Supercell, has released its first Key Portal Insights (KPI), introducing new quest systems, maps, revamped gear, and more.

In the KPI, the developers mentioned that they have started strong and tackled the toughest milestone of the year, ‘Early Game and Quest Systems’.

Many changes were made since the beta test of the game, such as the following:

Tutorial Revamp

One of the major feedbacks the company has received was that the game did not have a set premise, with many players confused about why they were hunting monsters.

As such, the tutorial was revamped to deliver more context and story to the world and reworked how players are introduced to the world of mo.co.

The tutorial now aims to set the premise of the game early on and kick off the main storyline of the game.

Thus, the team revamped the tutorial to deliver more context and story explaining, ‘why you’re hunting monsters’, and, more generally, reworked how players are introduced to the world of mo.co.

New Quest System

A new system for quests and jobs was also implemented into the game.

The way jobs visually appear and how players access them has also been reworked, with all main jobs from the mo.co founders being accessible through the mo.co phone. Conversations with them will also reveal drops of the story.

New Map Design

Players can now spot the job objectives on the map, as long as the player is not too far from it.

Now players would no longer need to wander aimlessly to find a certain objective, which was a problem faced in the beta test.

The change also applies to the mini-map.

New Gears Look

All gears have gotten an updated design in this update, with some shown below.

Lastly, the developers also shared some insights into what the team has been going through in the past month.

After the closed beta, the team took a while to correct and improve the game following the first-time users’ experience that they collected. Many of the new features required the team to go through intense discussion or take a step back to ensure it was implemented properly.

For the story improvements, the team said that:

“Building richer stories into our game was a new adventure for us. We realized we needed to know more about THE story to make it work. So, we decided to step back to ensure it all fit together.”

That concludes the first KPI of mo.co, the developers also promised that the artists have been working on improving maps, monsters, and skins. They have also revealed that the next milestone that will be revealed sometime in the future will be skins.
