The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom has launched to rave reviews and as many users have taken to social media to catalog their experiences, a certain trend has emerged with the game: people really like to bully the koroks.

Just browsing through Twitter and you can see numerous images of Koroks being burnt, crucified, strapped to rockets, and shot off many, many cliffs. We’d say it’s a tad mean-spirited but we also can’t deny that it’s incredibly funny, especially with how creative some of these torture devices have been.

The Koroks In Zelda

For those that haven’t played the game yet, the Koroks are small plant-like creatures that are involved with one of the larger side quests throughout the game. Finding them or helping them will reward you with a Korok Seed which can get you more storage space for your weapons among other upgrades.

One of the main requests the Koroks have for the link is to transport them to their nearby friends. It is implied that this is because their backpacks are too heavy for them to move, but I can’t be the only one that thinks it’s because they’re just lazy and want a free ride. Here the player is supposed to use the Ultrahand ability to pick and construct vehicles to carry the Koroks to wherever they need to go.

Unfortunately for them, many players have found other uses for the Koroks, the only NPCs that can be carried and attached to an assortment of items in the game.

Korok Bullying

The internet has certainly built things for the Koroks but not soo much to help them with their quests and more to put them in either tougher predicaments. Popular forms of Korok bullying seem to involve lighting them up on crosses, strapping them to rockets, or a mixture of the two. Someone has even been creative enough to hook them up to a rotisserie.

While this may seem disturbing and somewhere deep down we should probably question the human race’s inclination to brutally torture innocent creatures that are a lot smaller than us, it’s not like the Koroks are that upset. They let out a simple “ouch” or “Eep” but otherwise don’t seem to be bothered. Most of them will even still thank you if you actually get them to their friends in the end.

It’s cool to see people get so creative with the various tools that Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom leaves at their disposal even if they’re not quite being used as the game indented. Seriously, we’ve mostly been discussing the Koroks but there’s also been a trend of people building structures that are a little more…phallic.
