The recent Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games have been rated for Nintendo Switch and PS4 by the American video games rating board, the ESRB.
According to NintendoLife, entries for Final Fantasy I-VI have appeared on the ESRB website but have since been taken down. We should note that there is nothing that specifically denotes that these are the Pixel Remaster versions however the descriptions for each entry are very similar to those of the recent PC remasters. This likely means that the Pixel Remaster games will be coming to consoles sometime in the near future.
The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games are new ports of the first six numbered Final Fantasy games with updated sprites and music. They were released on PC and mobile devices starting with Final Fantasy I in July 2021 and ending with Final Fantasy VI in February of 2022. You can currently get a bundle containing all six games plus bonus wallpapers and soundtracks for $74.82 or RM330.72.
The original release of the Remasters was made in part to celebrate the series’ 35th Anniversary which will occur on the 18th of December 2022. Perhaps will see the ports sometime close to that announcement.
These also acted as replacements for the previous Final Fantasy I-VI PC and mobile ports which were directed for their ugly drawn-over sprites and awkward new menu system. These versions have now been taken down from Steam, the App Store and the Google Play Store with the launch of the pixel remaster versions.
Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster are currently available for PC and mobile devices and as of this recent news, are likely to come to Switch and PS4 sometime in the near future.
