French voice actress Anna Lauzeray-Gishi has been reported to be fired by Crunchyroll for participating in a fandubbing for the Chainsaw Man Anime Trailer. Anna is well known for her role as Kikyou Kushida for the French dub of the Classroom of the Elite anime series.

According to the Anime Senpai website, Anna had voiced Makima in the Chainsaw Man anime trailer and while the trailer was not released yet, a teaser for it is already out on Twitter. Crunchyroll had also gave the green light to Anna to disclose her reasoning behind her termination.

Anna had wrote on her twitter account about what transpired between her and Crunchyroll:

After a call from Crunchyroll, where I was informed that I was entitled to communicate on this subject, I announce that I will no longer play Kikyou Kushida in Classroom of the Elite.

The reason they (Crunchyroll) gave to me was because of my fandub for the Chainsaw Man anime trailer. I would have liked an amicable solution, like removing the fandub, but it was not offered to me, I was directly fired for that.

I admit to being surprised to be fired for an amateur dubbing, since I started off with fandubbing, and now I have been fired for it.

Anna had also gave a piece of advice for any newcomers who wish to be part of the voice acting scene in the anime sphere.

For the new generation, fandubbing is one of the best formats to improve and show what you’re worth. Nowadays, more and more fandubbers have become professional dubbing actors based on their effort and perseverance.

I wish the best for the actress who will play Kikyou Kushida after me. And obviously, I ask you to in no way insult or harass her as this decision is not up to her. And to whoever she is, I wish her the best.

Hopefully Crunchyroll will follow up with their statement for the cause of termination for Anna as there is currently not much information about this situation and we hope that Anna will be able to find success in her career as a voice actress.

Chainsaw Man will be set to be released on October 2022 and the anime adaptation will be done by Studio MAPPA.
