Square Enix and Soleil has announced the release date for their upcoming title, Valkyrie Elysium which, will be coming out to the PS4 and PS5 later this year.

As mentioned previously, Valkyrie Elysium is due to release for PS4 and PS5 in 29th September 2022, while the PC version of the game will be having a later release date which will be on 11th November 2022 via Steam.

Revealed earlier this year during the State of Play, Valkyrie Elysium is the next entry to the Valkyrie Profiles series where the first title was out on the PlayStation back in 1999, along with other subsequent entries on the PlayStation 2 as well as other handheld and mobile platforms.

Along with the Valkyrie Elysium release date being shown in the trailer, Square Enix had also showcased some gameplay footage of the game.

Engage in combat in real time

Unlike previous entries, the gameplay for Valkyrie Elysium will now be featuring fast paced real-time combat instead of the original turn-based combat.

This change doesn’t come much of a surprise given the recent shift of gameplay for JRPG titles changing from turn-based to real-time. One of the most notable games to adapt to this change would probably be Tales of Arise and their combat system.

Although, veteran fans will be pleased as returning features from older titles will be incorporated to Valkyrie Elysium such as finishing moves and combos in a combat system which will reward both fast reaction and strategic thinking.

Players will also be able to take advantage on using different varying weapons as well as elemental magic abilities to gain an upper hand against your enemies in this new fast paced combat.

Along with an entire overhaul to the combat system, an accompanying UI system is also present in the new Valkyrie Elysium game which showcases important details during combat such as weapons, consumables and skills.

Recruit Einherjar to join your cause

Another feature from the original games that will be making a return will be the option to recruit Einherjar, brave warriors who died valiantly in battle and have been chosen by Odin, to join with the hero and fight by her side when summoned.

Digital Deluxe Edition

Valkyrie Elysium will also be have a PS4& PS5 deluxe edition which includes the following:

• 72-hour early access to the full game
• In-game item “Svartaljr: Sword of the Goddess of the Underworld
• A digital version of VALKYRIE PROFILE: LENNETH (PS4/5 version*), the beloved first entry in the VALKYRIE series available at last on modern consoles.
