We’re back with another unboxing, this time showing off the Robot Spirits Side EVA Evangelion Unit 01, sporting a design based off the Rebuild of Evangelion movies.

This fully poseable figure comes with multiple parts and incredible poseability, letting you play with one of the most iconic mecha of all time in a variety of different poses.

It even includes a whole host of accessories, from the Prog Knife to its laughably short-lived rifle to the Rebuild-exclusive Spear of Cassius featured in Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time.

Without further ado, let’s get into unboxing the best mom in anime:

Personally, I’m always a sucker for any kind of window-based packaging, Little holes like this are always fun to peak through, and the intricate design of the box means it has a use even after the figure’s been removed since it just looks so good.

Once you take it out though, you get Eva 01 along with all its accessories. Here are the contents of the figure:

• Eva 01 figure
• Spear of Cassius (in two parts for storage)
• Set of 6 alternate hands
• Prog knife
• Rifle

On to the figure itself, I’m a really big fan of the paintjob. Scholars will long debate which of the different designs for Eva 01 are better- while original series looks better on screen it’s hard to deny that the deeper colors of the Rebuild version look better on an actual figure, especially with how well the sharp green parts look on camera.

I’m a really big fan of the overall color separation going on here too- even her spine is a nice metallic finish, in contrast to the rest of the purple armor plating.

As an Evangelion fan I’ve always found it weirdly endearing that they keep the starting weapons for Unit 01, since so many episodes will destroy them like they were going out of style.Still, you can get some pretty nice poses of Eva 01 with the rifle if you like the grunt mech kind of look.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Eva 01 without a berserk pose. Thankfully there’s a hinge joint for the mech’s jaw, and the reflective eyes make the figure actually look good in limited light, too.

If you’re still reeling from Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, you’ll want to pick up the Robot Spirits Side Eva Evangelion Unit 01 for your collection. It’s a great reproduction of Eva 01 as it appears in the final movie, and the Spear of Cassius is a gorgeous accessory that belongs in any collection to go with it.
