Square Enix executive officer and NieR series producer Yosuke Saito is currnelty working on a project with Yoko Taro and Keiichi Okabe, both who have worked on NieR games before as director and composer respectively.
In the latest issue of Famitsu, Yosuke Saito had a conversation with former Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, saying, “I’ve been talking about wanting to do something with Yoko and Okabe for some time now. I’ll have something a bit more put-together to say in the not-too-distant future, so please stay tuned. It might be NieR, it might not be NieR. That’s about all I can say for now.”
In the same article, Yosuke Saito added that he is currently working on another project.
“I’m doing various things with the idea of creating something that does not yet exist,” he said. “I can’t devote my time to that fully, so most of it has been left to the staff, but it’s turning into something quite interesting. I’m looking forward to the day we can announce it.”
At the moment, no further information has been revealed about the projects Saito are working on.
The last game in the NieR franchise is currently NieR: Reincarnation, a mobile game released in Japan in February 2021, and later worldwide in July 2021. However, the game has ended its service worldwide on 29 April 2024 and is currently unplayable.
