Microsoft has announced a major update to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, confirming both a global subscription price reduction and an important change affecting how future Call of Duty titles will be added to the service. While the lower monthly cost improves accessibility for players across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC, upcoming entries in the long-running shooter franchise will no longer be available on launch day through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.
The update reflects a shift in Microsoft’s subscription rollout strategy while maintaining the broader value proposition of the service across console and PC ecosystems.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Monthly Price Reduced With Updated MYR Estimates

Starting April 21, 2026, the monthly price for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has dropped from USD $29.99 (approximately RM95 to RM105) to USD $22.99 (approximately RM70 to RM80). PC Game Pass has also been reduced from USD $16.49 (approximately RM60 to RM70) to USD $13.99 (approximately RM55 to RM60) per month. Microsoft noted that regional pricing may vary depending on local markets.
The updated pricing makes Xbox Game Pass Ultimate more accessible to players across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC, while continuing to include access to hundreds of games, console online multiplayer support, in-game benefits, and unlimited Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Future Call of Duty Titles Will Join Xbox Game Pass About One Year After Release

Alongside the pricing update, Microsoft confirmed that future Call of Duty titles will no longer be included as day one releases on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass beginning later this year.
Instead, upcoming entries in the franchise will be added to the subscription library during the following holiday season, approximately one year after their initial launch window. Existing Call of Duty titles already available through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will remain accessible to subscribers across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC without interruption.
This marks a notable shift from earlier expectations that future entries in the Call of Duty series would consistently launch day one on Microsoft’s subscription platform following the company’s expansion of its first-party portfolio.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Continues to Offer Day One First-Party Releases Across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC

Despite the adjustment affecting future Call of Duty titles, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate continues to provide day one access to many first-party releases across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC, alongside a rotating catalog of third-party and independent titles.
Subscribers also retain access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, allowing supported titles to be streamed across compatible devices without requiring installation on local hardware. Microsoft stated that the latest adjustments reflect feedback from players across multiple regions and usage preferences, acknowledging that no single subscription structure serves every audience equally.
With reduced pricing now in effect and continued access to a large cross-platform game library, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate remains a central pillar of Microsoft’s gaming strategy heading through the rest of 2026, even as expectations around blockbuster day one additions such as Call of Duty continue to evolve.
