According to Overlord author Kugane Maruyama earlier this week, the draft for the next volume of the light novel has exceeded 700 pages. As a result, the author plans to divide the new volume, The Half Wood Elf God-kin, into two books.
There is still no release date for Overlord volume 15. Maruyama requested fans to be “a little bit more patient” in the tweet above. The Overlord volume 14, The Witch of the Falling Kingdom, was released back in March 2020.
Considering that early light novel volumes of Overlord typically number between 350 – 450 pages, splitting the new volume into two books makes sense. Note that the number of pages is based on the Japanese release of the light novel—English versions tend to be a lot less in terms of the number of pages.
In May last year, the fourth season of the Overlord anime was announced alongside an anime movie adaptation. Overlord season 4 is expected to air sometime this year. With the Overlord anime having adapted the first 9 volumes of the light novel, season 4 is likely to cover volume 10, The Ruler of Conspiracy. For more updates on the anime, follow the official Overlord anime Twitter account.
In other related Overlord news, an Overlord video game, Escape From Nazarick, was announced last month for Switch and PC via Steam.
