Bandai Namco and Brownies have released a playable demo for Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree. The roguelite action RPG is set to launch on September 19, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
What’s Included in the Demo

Players can experience Route 1, The Outset, which is the game’s opening dungeon. Four Guardians are available to try: Rekka, Shigin, Origami, and Nishiki. Each Guardian has a distinct combat style, ranging from swordplay to staff-based abilities.

Combat requires pairing two Guardians per run, combining their unique playstyles for strategic depth. Players can enhance abilities with items collected during dungeon exploration.
Exploring Shinju Village
The demo also introduces Shinju Village, the central hub for upgrades and story events. Here, players can:
- Upgrade equipment at the Blacksmith
- Train abilities at the Dojo
- Interact with villagers and uncover narrative details
The village evolves across timelines, reflecting progress in the Guardians’ battle against Magatsu and his Magaori forces.
Do note that the progress made in the demo cannot be carried over to the full game. Additionally, online multiplayer is not included in this trial version.
A World of Art and Music
The game features hand-drawn character designs and painterly environments, creating a vibrant yet perilous setting. Its soundtrack is composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto, famed for Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story. Together, these elements highlight the game’s strong emphasis on atmosphere and immersion.

The demo gives fans their first hands-on look at Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree before its full release this September. With unique Guardians, evolving village progression, and striking presentation, the trial offers a strong preview of what’s to come.
Try the demo now on your preferred platform, and stay tuned for more updates on their official website and Bandai Namco channels.
