Touhou Project’s Hakurei Reimu and Yukkuri Reimu Arrive in Desktop Mate as DLC This December

Infinite Loop has announced two new additions for its free PC app, Desktop Mate. The beloved Hakurei Reimu and Yukkuri Reimu from the Touhou series will join the platform as DLC on December 2, 2025. Their arrival continues the app’s rapid expansion and gives fans more familiar faces to place on their desktops.

New Animations, Voice Lines, and Exclusive Extras

Hakurei Reimu brings several new shrine-maiden themed motions. She can sit on window borders, hop between apps, and react to mouse movements with lively expressions. Sumire Uesaka recorded new voice lines for this DLC, giving Reimu a more authentic presence on-screen. Infinite Loop also added an exclusive wallpaper feature tied specifically to this version of Reimu, giving fans another way to personalize their setup.

Yukkuri Reimu offers a simpler, chibi-style option. Infinite Loop priced this version to make it easy for anyone to try. While she uses fewer animations, she still captures the playful charm that Yukkuri characters are known for.

What Desktop Mate Does

Desktop Mate acts as a “next-generation desktop mascot platform,” using 3D models that freely move across the user’s screen. The characters interact with windows, follow the cursor, and perform small actions that make them feel lively and present. Users can even connect certain characters to the app’s alarm function to add a practical twist to the experience.

The base app remains free and includes the original mascot Aiel-tan at no cost. Infinite Loop plans to keep expanding the character lineup and introduce new interactive features over time. The goal is to turn Desktop Mate into a flexible and entertaining companion system for PC users.

With Hakurei Reimu and Yukkuri Reimu joining the roster, Touhou fans now have two new ways to bring their favorite shrine maiden into a more animated and interactive space on their desktop.
