NetEase Games has released the first full look at Marvel Rivals’ upcoming 18v18 Annihilation mode, introducing players to a massive new battlefield called Grand Garden. The mode arrives on November 27, and brings one of the most chaotic large-team formats the game has seen so far, giving 36 players the chance to clash across an expanded, multi-layered map.
Grand Garden: A New Large-Scale Arena

The Grand Garden map takes center stage in the new trailer, showing off its wide lanes, elevated platforms, and open combat zones. It’s noticeably bigger than the game’s usual arenas, and its scale seems designed to handle the full 18-versus-18 roster. The trailer also hints at unusual match behaviors. In one moment, Scarlet Witch hovers over a swarm of Jeff the Land Sharks before unleashing her ultimate. This suggests that players might be able to pick duplicate heroes in the new mode, although NetEase has not confirmed this yet.
Season 5 Expands With Gambit and Teases Rogue

Marvel Rivals recently kicked off Season 5 with the addition of Gambit, who joined the game as a Strategist. Many fans expected the Ragin’ Cajun to land in the Duelist category, but his utility-focused abilities carve out a different niche. NetEase also confirmed that Rogue will join the game during December’s mid-season update, bringing another X-Men favorite to the roster.
Anniversary Celebration Brings Free Units and New Skins

Alongside the new mode, Marvel Rivals will celebrate its first anniversary on November 27. NetEase plans to give every player 2,400 Units as a thank-you for the game’s strong first year. While Units can’t unlock everything—such as the Season 5 Battle Pass—they can be used to buy skins and cosmetic bundles in the in-game store.
A new legendary Jeff the Land Shark skin is also on the way, dressing the fan-favorite mascot in a suit and tie for a corporate-themed makeover. Additional anniversary skins will roll into the shop throughout the event period.
A Growing Lineup of Limited-Time Modes

The success of Marvel Rivals’ recent events has given NetEase the confidence to experiment further. Earlier this year, the game introduced a PvE crossover mode inspired by Marvel Zombies, which saw a major spike in player engagement and forced the team to extend the event’s duration. Developers have already confirmed more PvE-focused modes are in development, though no release windows have been shared.
Some fans are also hoping to see the return of Jeff the Land Shark’s winter event, which previously let two full teams of Jeffs compete to freeze the entire map.
Looking Ahead to Season 6

Players enjoying Season 5 already have their eyes on next year. A recent leak suggests Deadpool could headline Season 6, with Elsa Bloodstone also rumored to join the roster. Fans hope she will debut as a Vanguard, but NetEase has yet to announce anything official. With new heroes, experimental modes, and steady updates lined up, Marvel Rivals is shaping up for a strong 2026.
