Tapfun Launches Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme on New Japanese Browser Platform

Japanese company Tapfun has launched a new cloud-based gaming platform. It allows players to enjoy full-price console games directly in their browsers. The platform works on PCs, smartphones, and tablets.

This means gamers can play high-end titles without downloads or installations. Consequently, players can experience console-quality games regardless of their device’s performance.

First Big Title: Venus Vacation Prism – DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme

To celebrate the platform’s launch, Tapfun announced that Koei Tecmo’s Venus Vacation Prism – DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme- will be the first major title. The release coincides with the franchise’s ninth anniversary, exciting long-time fans.

Players can access the browser version immediately. Moreover, they can dive straight into the vibrant Venus Vacation world. This eliminates the wait for traditional downloads or patches.

A New “Time-Based Light Microtransaction Model”

According to reports, Tapfun also introduced a time-based light microtransaction system. It charges users based on how long they play. The platform allows players to enjoy the first hour for free, giving them enough time to explore the game.

Afterward, each thirty minutes costs around 290 yen (roughly $2 USD). This model mimics the arcade-style experience, letting players decide whether to continue. Furthermore, Tapfun recently filed a patent for this system, which runs entirely on its proprietary cloud servers.

Cloud-Based Convenience for All Players

Because the platform runs entirely in the cloud, hardware limitations won’t hold players back. Tapfun targets gamers who are curious but usually avoid full-priced titles. This makes high-end games more accessible.

Currently, Venus Vacation Prism is the only traditional full-price game on the platform. The service also hosts an NFT/Web3 game and an AI-based title. Tapfun plans to expand its library with other established IPs. However, the platform is only available in Japan for now, giving Japanese players first access to this innovative service.
