One of gaming’s most iconic stealth characters is making his way into one of the most popular tactical shooters out there. Solid Snake, the legendary hero of the Metal Gear Solid series, is joining Rainbow Six Siege as a permanent playable Operator when Operation Silent Hunt launches on March 3.
Snake’s signature gadget is the Soliton Radar MKIII, a handheld device that maps out his immediate surroundings and detects nearby enemies. The radar covers the floor Snake is currently on and any connected staircases, and it color-codes the situation for quick reading: green means all clear, yellow signals an active enemy-watched CCTV camera in the area, and red means enemies have been detected.
Defenders aren’t completely in the dark, though. They’re notified when Snake’s radar picks them up, giving them a chance to reposition or push back. On top of that, several Operators have ways to counter the radar entirely.
The crossover goes well beyond just adding Snake as an Operator. The Operation Silent Hunt Battle Pass instantly unlocks Solid Snake at the start of the season and includes Metal Gear Solid-themed cosmetics, one of which is a Psycho Mantis outfit for Smoke.
Later in the season, a limited-time event (currently unnamed) will add a new 4v4 infiltration-focused game mode set on a modified version of Nighthaven Labs inspired by a location from the Metal Gear Solid series. The event will also bring more Metal Gear Solid cosmetics to other Operators, including Jackal as Gray Fox and Ash as Meryl. Snake won’t be going in alone either — the event will feature a team-up with Zero, also known as Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell series.

Beyond the Snake content, Operation Silent Hunt is also modernizing three maps: Villa, Coastline, and Oregon. The season will also mark the final season for the 6v6 mode, Dual Front, so players who want to unlock its exclusive cosmetics should log in before the window closes.
Operation Silent Hunt launches March 3. Rainbow Six Siege is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store, with Free Access available through Ubisoft+.
