SEGA has announced Road to Empress I & II, a bundled release set for Nintendo Switch in 2026. The package combines both entries in the cinematic palace drama series into a single release.
The project comes from developer New One Studio. SEGA will co-publish the collection in Japan and select Asian markets. In addition, it will support regional distribution alongside its publishing partners.
A Palace Intrigue Story Driven by Choices

Road to Empress I & II focuses on survival inside an imperial court. Players enter a world shaped by political tension and shifting alliances. Every decision can change the course of the story.
Choices matter throughout the experience. Players can gain influence, lose allies, or alter their fate. As a result, each playthrough can lead to different outcomes.
The game also encourages replayability. Players can explore alternate paths and story branches. Therefore, the narrative can unfold in multiple ways.
Live-Action Drama with High Production Value

The series uses live-action footage instead of traditional animation. It features cinematic performances and detailed historical sets. This design creates a strong sense of realism.
In addition, the production includes a large cast of actors. The developers focus heavily on costume design and set accuracy. Because of this, the palace world feels grounded and immersive.

The franchise has already seen strong commercial success. The first entry sold over one million copies in two weeks. This result helped establish the series as a major interactive drama hit.
Two-Game Bundle Launching in 2026

Road to Empress I & II will include both games in one package. Players can experience the full story from beginning to end. The bundle is scheduled for release in 2026.
SEGA will co-publish the Nintendo Switch version in Japan and select Asian regions. It will also co-publish Road to Empress II on Steam in Japan. These efforts expand the series across multiple platforms.
A Growing Interactive Drama Franchise

Road to Empress I & II continues to expand the interactive drama genre. It combines live-action storytelling with branching narrative design. Therefore, it offers a different style of narrative gameplay.
Finally, the Nintendo Switch release will introduce the series to a wider audience. Players can experience palace intrigue in a portable format. The 2026 launch marks a major step forward for the franchise.
