Capcom has shared a fresh update on Resident Evil Requiem, with the game’s producer encouraging players to complete the main campaign soon in preparation for its upcoming mini-game DLC.

In a recent interview with Japanese outlet Denfaminico Gamer, Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa discussed the game’s future content plans, including both the previously announced mini-game and story expansion DLC.

Mini-Game DLC Nearing Release

According to Nakanishi, development on the mini-game is already in its final stages. He also confirmed that players must complete the main story before they can access the new mode.

Kumazawa added that players should use Japan’s Golden Week holiday period, running from April 29 to May 6, to finish the campaign so they are ready when the update arrives.

The comments strongly suggest the mini-game release may be close, especially since Capcom previously announced it would launch sometime in May 2026.

Focused on Combat and Replayability

Nakanishi described the upcoming content as a battle-focused side mode rather than a separate narrative experience.

He explained that the mini-game is designed for players who have already cleared the story and still want more action after the credits roll. He also teased that fans should “sharpen your tomahawks,” hinting at intense combat encounters.

While Capcom has not officially detailed the mode yet, many fans believe it could be similar to past Resident Evil bonus content such as The Mercenaries or other arcade-style challenge modes.

Story DLC Still in Full Production

Beyond the mini-game, Capcom also confirmed that additional story DLC remains in active development.

Nakanishi said he cannot reveal much yet, but stated the expansion is currently in full production. This suggests a larger post-launch narrative update is planned for later in 2026.

Last month, Capcom teased the story DLC with artwork showing protagonist Leon S. Kennedy embracing a mysterious woman, sparking heavy fan speculation online.

Leon’s Wedding Ring Mystery Continues

One of the biggest talking points surrounding Resident Evil Requiem has been Leon’s subtle wedding ring seen near the game’s ending.

Players quickly noticed the ring and began theorising about the identity of Leon’s possible partner. When asked whether that mystery would be answered in the future, Nakanishi simply replied that it would be resolved “some day,” but not yet.

He also revealed the ring was intentionally kept subtle so it would not distract players during the ending scene.

Resident Evil Requiem Continues Strong Launch Momentum

The survival horror title has already sold more than 7 million copies within its first two months, making it another major success for Capcom.

With a mini-game update seemingly around the corner and story DLC still in development, Resident Evil Requiem looks set to maintain strong momentum across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC throughout 2026.
