Japanese video game publisher Visual Arts, best known for titles like Kanon, Air, and Clannad released under their Key brand, has launched a new label called Visual Arts Scripts. The announcement came on April 21, alongside the reveal of three upcoming visual novels set to be published under the brand.
The first of the three, Sayagatari – Promise of the Cursed Blade –, is the furthest along and is currently set for a 2026 release on PC via Steam. The other two titles, Tekkai Jousai no Haika and Honjou Rendoku to Ushinawareta Ikou (Naharasu), are still in development, and their official English titles have yet to be announced.

Sayagatari is a romance visual novel centered on Toya, a sword enthusiast who gets cursed by a demonic blade that fills him with an uncontrollable urge to kill. The only person who can lift the curse is Saya, a priestess who previously held the sword, and she can do so through her kisses.

Tekkai Jousai no Haika is set 100 years after a fictional catastrophe called the “great fire,” which burned down a collection of mysterious illegal structures now referred to as Tekkai Jousai, or fortresses. Players follow Yuuma Kuze, an archeologist sent to investigate the ruins, who stumbles upon a girl named Haika living among them.
Honjou Rendoku to Ushinawareta Ikou takes a more unusual approach. Set in July of the 44th year of the Showa Era, which the story places as 1969, the backdrop is the historic Apollo moon landing and the cultural excitement that followed it. The protagonist crosses paths with a mysterious girl in Jimbocho, Tokyo’s well-known old bookstore district.
Visual Arts Scripts marks a new direction for the publisher as it steps into original label territory beyond its existing brands.
